Come Visit Hico, Texas

Hico, Texas

This week I took a fellow agent and photographer with me on a fun, field trip to Hico, Texas. This quaint little town is just south of Stephenville and Glen Rose, Texas. Roughly about 80 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Strolling this little town was so much fun. The rich history, authentic Texas architecture, and interesting shops made our trip well worth it. We also enjoyed eating in the newest restaurant at the historic Midland Hotel. The Chop House is worth the trip alone! Yum!

Speaking of the Midland Hotel, this newly renovated gem is perfect for that much-needed weekend get-a-way, family reunion or even to house a retreat or company meeting. The 14 fabulous rooms look like something out of  a magazine. They are stunning!

The restaurant and bar at The Chop House are run by the well-know chef, Phil Greer. Phil is famous in these parts for his superb skills in preparing delicious cuisine and having a flare for presentation. Enjoy breakfast on the weekends!

Take a tour through the newly renovated hotel. These 14 rooms will impress you. Each one has a wonderful, historical story in how they were each named. On each bed, guests will find the hometown newspaper, a delicious Hico-made Wiseman Chocolates and a bag of the famous Hico popcorn!

There are many great local events in Hico all year long. Bring the family out to get a true taste of an old, Texas town. You can almost envision how this little town was a hundred years ago!

Take time to SHOP!  We loved FG Clothing and Antiques, Blue Star Trading Company, and the Opera House Antiques. All were full of great finds, beautiful art and of course many one-of-a-kind antiques.

So get on your walking shoes, grab your friends and head on over to Hico, Texas! Oh, and don't forget to spend time over at the Billy The Kid Museum! Now there's some true, Texas history for you! So much to do so why not stay a night or two?
