CHEVRON HOUSTON MARATHON ~ 2012

CHEVRON HOUSTON MARATHON ~ 2012

Houston Marathon

This is the big weekend for the annual Chevron Houston Marathon here in Houston, Texas.  The Aramco Half Marathon is also being run at the same time.  Both of these races have been sold out for months so there will be literally tens of thousands of runners out in full force on Sunday morning.

The races begin at 7 a.m. this Sunday, January 15, 2012.  The races begin near the George R. Brown Convention Center and is where it culminate as well.  The marathon is extremely well-run and there is a great area set up at the finish line for spectators!

The race has been running here in Houston for 40 years and has grown significantly!  There are 24,000 runners that are signed up for the two races.  This is a special day for the Houston Marathon Committee to see the running of the 40th race.

Houston is a great city for runners as we have a mild, winter climate along with nice, flat streets.  These two components makes for some great running conditions and record breaking performances.

I will be running my third Aramco Half Marathon on Sunday.  I so enjoy the energy that surrounds the race and being able to run through the 4th largest city in the country.  Nothing else like it.

Get up and come out this weekend.  The Olympic Marathon trials are being run tomorrow here in Houston so this is a big weekend for runners!  The streets will be ablaze with us crazy pavement pounders!

Thank you Houston for opening your streets to us!

If I were still living in Houston I would still be just a spectator.  Knees are bad and so is the back from carrying all that extra weight from years gone by.

Paula, knowing what you have been through I celebrate what running your third marathon means. It is amazing, I take just a few minutes to thank God on your behalf. You go and running this is such a blessing. Thanks for being a friend on AR.

Paula,

Great for you to keep running.  I noticed on your FB that you've slowed down some with the training.  Any nagging injuries or I hope you're living out marital bliss... g
