It IS Alright to WALK Sometimes! This morning as I was running along Towne Lake here in Austin, (I am here with my husband on business) I found myself feeling guilty because I simply needed to walk some today. Why do I feel guilty? I am outside and moving my body and that should be enough right?
As most of us in the business world know, we are a competitive group. We are constantly on the go and literally find ourselves running around most of the time. Does all of this running really get us ahead? I contemplated this as I gave myself permission to "walk" today,
When I slowed down, I was able to enjoy the view of the lake, was able to take in the little things such as a cool bug crawling along the path, waving to the kayaks on the lake and focusing on the simple act of just being alive in the moment.
What if I incorporated this strategy into my business? If I were to slow down a bit, would I have more time to focus on the little details of my business? Of course I would! I know for a fact that if I gave myself permission to quit "running" through my day, I would be more organized, more focused and much more detailed.
I will give myself the green light to "slow" down a bit. The frenetic pace I find myself in most of the time can become non-productive and ultimately destructive. My challenge to each of you is to evaluate where you are right now. Are you "running" around and missing the big picture? Do you need to give yourself permission to "slow down"?
Life is precious. I certainly don't want to "miss" another second of truly "living". Will you slow down and find a new appreciation for the "slower"" pace? See you on the trail ~ WALKING! :)

This was wonderful...enjoy theday! Nan
Thanks Nan! You enjoy your day as well.
Paula, I am so in the same place. I'm giving myself permission to "slow down" and pick what I want out of "life"! You go Girl! It's all yours!
Paula, this is a really important post, I am going to reblog it. I completely agree with you, I often find myself feeling guilty for not being "on" 24/7. I am really learning to take it easy the older I get...it is okay to walk now and then...
Paula,
This subject about work habits keeps coming to the surface. Personally, I don't think anyone can achieve balance without cheating some part of his or her life. On the other hand, who wants to chase the wind, like running after vanity? In fact, Cherise and I continue to reassess how to work given the nature of real estate and how our work is to be done unto God. Glad you were walking instead of running the trail. gordon
