SUNDAY BLESSINGS ~ UMC CHIGAGO STYLE!
What a joy it was today to attend services at the United Methodist Church Chicago Temple this morning! Just a short walk through the city on a beautiful Sunday morning, the temple majestically welcomed us as we headed out on W. Washington Ave.
This church has a long and rich history dating back to 1831. The church is exquisite and architecturally intriguing. Gorgeous spires grace the top of the building along with plenty of handsome carved features. A collection of some of the most beautiful stained glass adorns the sanctuary.
The sanctuary itself is a sight to behold. Soaring ceilings with the glow from the stained glass causes one to gasp in awe and amazement. This is a gorgeous church tucked into a large, bustling city! Being able to enjoy a service here was a treat.
The gospel choir was outstanding. Reverand Philip Blackwell gave an outstanding sermon and I was left feeling renewed and inspired. I am looking forward to coming back to visit this church again someday!
At the very top of this church just below the steeple is the fantastic Sky Chapel. We took a private tour and were amazed at the structure, the views and the history. The Pastor gave us a wonderful tour and even showed us his private residence just below the Chapel.
A wonderful, wonderful experience. Thank you Pastor Blackwell for an enjoyable tour and specifically for such a great worship experience this morning!
