GOODBYE GEORGIA ~ I HAD A GREAT TIME!

I am now sitting at the Charleston, SC airport as I await my flight back home to Houston. This was my first visit to this area and have to say that I enjoyed every minute. I will be writing and posting some great pictures and stories that we experienced.
The Rock-n-Roll Marathon was very well done! The City of Savannah did an outstanding job accommodating the 23,000 runners and their guests! This was the first race of this kind for the city so we were pleased with the great job of all of the officials as well as the southern hospitality shown by the citizens.
The race began early Saturday morning right on Bay Street which is down by the water. The weather had turned rather chilly the day before so I jumped into the middle of those thousands of runners to stay warm while awaiting the start of the race.
Being a part of such a great event is exciting. People are from all over and you can feel the energy all around you. Spirits are high as all of the training, carb loading and anticipation are finally being met.
My husband is a great support as he cheers me on throughout the race. He will follow me to various points along the course via a bicycle so it is great when I find him in the crowd. I am always amazed that I see him so often amongst the thousands of people.
The City of Savannah is charming and lovely. Being able to run through the historic streets was a true treat. There were thousands of Savannahites out on the chilly morning cheering us along the entire course.
I had another great race and actually hit a personal record (PR) which is nice. No matter what the clock says though, I run because I feel alive and thankful with each step and breath that I take. It is good to be alive.
Thank you Savannah! It has been a great visit.
