My client and I spent the day looking at homes in The Woodlands. I am always amazed at what we will find in some of the homes that we show. I mean people, I really thought that you wanted to SELL your home! Why on earth would you list your home if you aren't going to properly prepare it for showing?

Improper Staging The picture on the left is a perfect example of what not to leave out when trying to sell your home? What sort of message is this with the mouthwash and the Clorax wipes above the toilet. To say the least, didn't send a really warm and fuzzy feeling.

The small trash cans with the Walmart liners are not attractive either. Please, put the trash cans along with the toilet scrubber out of sight. And for heavens sake, close the lid please.

Another horror are the pantries and closets that are jammed packed. People do look in there and it makes it really tough to see any potential storage when you open a door and might possibly find Jimmy Hoffa hiding among the clutter. Organize and de-clutter each and every closet.

Now we know you have to live in your home while selling it but must we have to see your undergarments laying on the floor? How gross is that? Ugh, toss those nasties in a basket and get them out of sight!

And finally, clean the house! No one wants to see mildew in the shower, dust bunnies running around, dirty dishes in the sink, or all of your dirty laundry! Clean it up and then keep it that way while the home is listed. A dirty house is not fun to show nor is it conducive to a quick sale. Did I mention CLEANING THE HOUSE?
