WOODLANDS FIT ~ CHANGE YOUR LIFE! The Woodlands Fit is a wonderful training program offered to people who wish to train for a marathon (26.2 miles) or a half marathon (13.1miles). This is not just for runners either, there is a group just for those who wish to walk or walk-run the race.
Groups are determined by running/walking pace. You are placed into the group where you wish to be and of course can move up or move down as the season progresses. There are coaches assigned to each of the groups offering support to all.
I participated in this program last year and have signed up again this year. I loved the camaraderie and bonds that were formed. Everyone is there for different reasons and seeing the same familiar faces each week was encouraging. Seeing how we all progressed was really great too. Everyone pulls for you and as you come in from a long run, your friends are there cheering you in.
Long runs are scheduled each Saturday morning and depending on the distance determines the time we start. Although it is early, by 8 a.m. you have already completed your workout and still have the entire day to enjoy. A few of those early runs were quite challenging last year as we had one of the coldest winters here in South Texas! Running in 18 degree weather was not my idea of fun.
Luke's Locker sponsors The Woodlands Fit and this is where we meet for our Saturday runs. We usually enjoy an informative seminar after we run focusing on topics such as nutrition, hydration, stretching, cross training and injury prevention.
